Honesty Shop

Honesty Shop

Honesty shop is an excellent initiative taken by our school which depicted honesty in today’s generation . The main idea of this shop is to find out can money or our greed takeover our value of honesty? In this shop there was no shopkeeper , just a list was put up which displayed the cost price of each and every material placed on the table like pencils, pens, scale, rubber, etc. The amount did not exceed more than 20 rupees . There was a large pink box placed right next to the materials where the students were expected to put the money inside the box for the material they had purchased . This also helped the students to purchase the material they needed for some urgent project . Along with honesty , this also tested the students ability to resist or overcome their inner feelings to steal . This also taught them to be true to themselves . The idea of the honesty shop was really effective for most of the students . Such ideas inspire and change the world.

Christmas
ooh,ooh Christmas is coming,
santa’s elves and reindeers are running.
I love this time of year,
full of white snow and reindeer.
That special something in the air,
friends and family everywhere.
when everybody is singing, my heart starts jinglelinging Santa is coming to town
all the way from north pole ’cause we got Christmas soul.
Let’s clap our hands we can dance tonight,
if you got Christmas spirit let it shine bright.
Baking the delicious Christmas cookies ,
we will make some memories.
Jingle bells are ringing,
and everybody is singing
“I love Christmas.”

A TRIP TO MUSSOORIE…

A TRIP TO MUSSOORIE…
I was thrilled by the idea and concept of taking school students on an ‘Adventure Camp’ to a mesmerizing place ‘Mussoorie’. I was a part of this extra-ordinarily exciting camp which was held during my Diwali Vacation from 1st to 5th of November, 2018. We were a total of 42 students. Our Journey began at 12:30 pm on 1st November, 2018. Travelling all the way from Mumbai to Delhi, we reached the Delhi Airport at 9:45 pm. We had dinner at the airport itself and then experienced a night journey in a bus from Delhi to Dehradun. From Dehradun, we travelled survey roads to reach our camp, which was at ‘Nature Walks Resort’. At the camp we were divided into two groups – ‘Muddy Monsters’ and ‘Green Grenades’ by the main camp instructor. We were then allotted our cottages. After this, our adventure activities began. Our first activity was ‘Zip Lining’. Simultaneously, we learnt typing different types of knots. Then we headed for ‘Rock Climbing’ and ‘Rappelling’ which were tough but incredible. Then, in the evening, we had ‘Bon Fire’… Here, we enjoyed playing ‘Antakshari’ after having soup in a cold weather.
The next day had a new story to tell. We got up to see a rainy weather in the morning at that cold, chilly place! Wearing our ponchos, we trekked to a temple. Following this, we had another activity ‘Raft Building’. First, the groups were to design their rafts, then, with the collective efforts of our team members, we built our raft using ropes, bamboos, and inflated tubes. And then, there was raft racing in the pool… I loved this activity, though only boys were a part of the race. In the evening, girls and boys played a unique game – AIRHOOPY. This was a kind of basketball played using a rope. We also had a high rope course, bonfire and an unforgettable DJ.
The next day, we had an incredible trek – ‘MAGGIE TREK’. I really liked this concept. After a tiring trek, the team members prepared Maggie on the hill. There were two different pots of Maggie each prepared by one of the groups. We also decorated the serving plates to our fullest using leaves, sticks, flowers, etc. to present our trainers and teachers. Then, we had an activity called ‘Stream Runner’. This was indeed the most adventurous activity of the camp. From ice cold water to slippery stones, we had to overcome everything in the fast running stream. I won’t forget the moment I fell in this stream. After this, we had our last, mysterious and fun activity – ‘Guerilla Warfare’. This included tea making, balloon game and tennis ball game.
There was one weird plant – ‘Bichchhu Booty’, from which everyone had to be aware during the entire camp, since it gave an ‘Itchy and Stingy’ feeling if touched for about an hour.
On our last day, we landed on the Mumbai airport at around 12:50 pm. I’m thankful to the enthusiastic camp leaders and teachers (Selwyn Sir, Sushma Miss and Sapna Miss) who had accompanied us on the camp. The camp gave the lessons of punctuality, team building and confidence.

TODAY’S GENERATION….

TODAY’S GENERATION….
What is this generation doing? It’s just totally dependant on their parents for things (food and mobiles and clothes and fees. I don’t know much) and the teachers for studies and the internet for homework. But….. who’s actually responsible for this depletion?? Any guesses? No? It’s fine don’t worry. It’s the parents! Haven’t you wondered that parents have been doing things for children since they were born?  Parents do everything for children and then when they reach secondary section they expect them to do every work of theirs without any help from any elder. Let’s talk about STUDIES. So parents make them participate in every competition in the world-from SOF to MARRS. Good job. But you are giving them only bookish knowledge in the syllabus. I wonder how many parents inculcate reading into their children in a proper way when they actually start reading. And then when you’re in grade nine with super poor English teachers ask you to start reading. Not Geronimo or Goosebumps. Tell me, how is this possible if they haven’t even read 40 to 50 pages books on moral values or any kiddie book. I doubt if any child has read or even heard of Calvin and Hobbes. Have they??? I leave it up to you  to decide how you want to do the Parvarish( I seriously wasn’t getting the word for that. My apologies.) of your children.
Just DON’T
1. Give a smart phone in their hands till they do well in the 10th boards.
2. Be on social media until they turn 13.
3. let them play PUBG or COC or any other stupid violent game.
4. give them lectures about how they are hooked to mobiles since you are as well.
5. don’t do their work always.
6. be super worried about their studies.

It’s been months since,
We were bound together.
That feeling of disharmony,
Turned as strong as leather.
Where we have fun,
But within our limits.
To become a part of us,
You don’t need tickets!
When does something stupid or brave,
Claps go heard louder than thunder.
Though we are all well behaved,
There’s a child naughty skinned under
We are praised everyday,
In some exceptions-we are scolded.
But still we are happier,
Than what we were yesterday.
Because we are an example of unity,
We are more than a class,
We are a family.

I QUIT

Shashank Shenoy
X-B

I QUIT Doesn’t it sound a bit awkward when i say “I Quit” or when you say “I ll Give up ” ???Am I diverting you from the traditional notion of “Never Give Up”??Oh ,but also the trenditional formula for life ???If you feel so then to i will say n persuade people to say to Give up …. .the question arises ….Why ??? Life is the most difficult exam .You never know what is its portion !!!!!But here you should try …..because it is a mandate to all ,then why to give up ?Just as an intelligent candidate in competitive exam will leave a question without answering just because he is totally unaware of its answer in order to avoid negative marking isnt it a good option ?Why wont you try and take a risk then ?As far as i am concerned i shall leave it !!!! Similarly you should learn to quit sometimes in life but not always .The only condition is the SITUATION ,analysis is indeed a deciding factor here and you have to be a great analyst here .’Quitting’ is necessary .Let me tell you how ??? You are in a bad fight with your bestie ,according to the trend ,you will fight to prove yourself right but i will either QUIT because if i value a Relationship, which is not just for friendship but every bond i create,i will try keeping it by just controlling my anger for few seconds and also keeping my ego low …..I got benefitted in many ways …i learned to control my anger …i saved my straining friendship and most importantly i didnt lose my friend . Lets us look on the other side of coin .I am in a bad company in whose conduct i might get fun n joy but it is really negative to side …i will QUIT ,yes, why not ???Believing i will have a better group .. I live a negative life ,yes a -ve life!Cant i quit and have a +ve life instead ??? I am sure here …. You have a moody mind …and you feel very agitated and irritated ….you can “Quit” a moody mind and feel better ……. You have to learn to quit on negative thoughts , negative people and most preciously” The Negative Yourself “.Yes ,it all what is in your head that the world looks !!!!!A jar is filled with water to a part .Most of them will say it is (part) empty but rarely some will say it is (part)filled !!!This -ve thoughts are only to be eliminated by the ” Quit “formula . You should quit your past ,its guilts for a better and brighter future .You should quit self doubt ,societal thinkings etc .You should quit fear of failure and demand for success .Live presently and not for dreams .Quit Hesitation ,Quit Desperation ,Quit Expectation ,Quit devastation . Now your time is up.You have to move further because you have great bright life lined up fm……Happy living.

Life is beautiful

Zoya Mukri
8-D

Life is beautiful
Life is full of ups and downs,
sometimes someone is happy ,
sometime someone frowns
Everyone tries their best,
to prove themselves better than the rest
Everyone is born with a talent,
which all these years had been silent
Life is beautiful ,so true,
and everyday you discover the new you
Life teaches us to learn from our mistakes,
and to solve them we have to do whatever it takes
Just like every flower in a bouquet may not be pretty,
it’s their unity which gives them strength and beauty
Life is an adventurous game,
even if we fail in it there is no shame.

CEMENTED

Srishti Sharma

CEMENTED
Last night you were in my dream
my tongue fluctuated to speak
and this mouth crawled underneath
Those words were moderately done,
my tongue also contrived baking that accent
so that you just not perceive this persona
but carry me home remembering my aroma
Morning cuckoo bird wakes me
for our traditional meet and greet
I’m with you and this time it’s not a dream
words sloped in fragmentation
I saw your face with calculations
and I knew I had failed
I shut these eyes tight
tears begging to flow turn freezing cold
I feel crystals piercing into my iris
Eyelashes fall, eyelids bleed
this tetrad chamber hates me
seeking permission for you to be pleased
with lipstick adhesive as gum
I fear it falls scraping my lips numb
I tear this face pack and tell you
I’m no more a place to be attacked
Deep down I’m truly myself inside
this bone and flesh unknowingly for you to be mine
I made this one outside to sit in dark hebrides
and the fake to be more socialized
I don’t know if you like me for the outsides
so step inside venture this soul twice
cause I’m sorry I can’t be your daily merchandise

You and Me

Zoya Mukri

You and Me
Somewhere to find a friend like you,
you always make me happy when I am feeling blue.
The way we talk , the things you say,
the way you make it all okay. It almost feels we never were,
all the time we spend was just a blur.
If i could wish for one thing ,
I will ask for the smile that you bring.
I have never met anyone like you before,
someone who can make me smile when i fall down on the floor.
So glad I got a friend like you,
always got each other’s back we do.
And everything is a little bit better,
when you and I stick together.
You always got a friend in me,
that’s the way it’s always gonna be.

Navaratri

Rahul
10-B

Navaratri

Navaratri also spelled Navratri or Navarathri, is a nine nights (and ten days) Hindu festival, celebrated in the autumn every year. It is observed for different reasons and celebrated differently in various parts of the Indian subcontinent. Theoretically, there are four seasonal Navratri. However, in practice, it is the post-monsoon autumn festival called Sharada Navratri that is the most observed in the honor of the divine feminine Devi (Durga). The festival is celebrated in the bright half of the Hindu calendar month Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October. In the eastern and northeastern states of India, the Durga Puja is synonymous with Navratri, wherein goddess Durga battles and emerges victorious over the buffalo demon to help restore Dharmam. In the northern and western states, the festival is synonymous with “Rama Lila” and Dussehra that celebrates the battle and victory of god Rama over the demon king Ravana. In southern states, the victory of different goddesses, of Rama or Saraswati is celebrated. In all cases, the common theme is the battle and victory of Good over Evil based on a regionally famous epic or legend such as the Ramayana or the Devi Mahatmya. The word Navratri means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. According to some Hindu texts such as the Shakta and Vaishnava Puranas, Navaratri theoretically falls twice or four times a year. Of these, the Sharada Navaratri near autumn equinox (September-October) is the most celebrated, and the Vasanta Navaratri near spring equinox (March-April) is next most significant to the culture of Indian subcontinent. In all cases, Navaratri falls in the bright half of the Hindu luni-solar months. The celebrations vary by region, leaving much to the creativity and preferences of the Hindu.

1. Sharada Navaratri: the most celebrated of the four navaratris, named after sharada which means autumn. It is observed the lunar month of Ashvin (post-monsoon, September-October). In many regions the festival falls after autumn harvest, and in others during harvest.

2. Vasanta Navaratri: the second most celebrated, named after vasanta which means spring. It is observed the lunar month of Chaitra (post-winter, March-April). In many regions the festival falls after spring harvest, and in others during harvest. The festival is associated to the prominent battle that took place between Durga and demon Mahishasura and celebrates the victory of Good over Evil. These nine days are solely dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine Avatars. Each day is associated to an incarnation of the goddess:

Day 1: Shailaputri Known as Pratipada, this day is associated to Shailaputri (literally “Daughter of Mountain”), an incarnation of Parvati. It is in this form that the Goddess is worshiped as the consort of Shiva; she is depicted as riding the bull, Nandi, with a trishula in her right hand and lotus in her left. Shailaputri is considered to be the direct incarnation of Mahakali. The color of the day is red, which depicts action and vigor.

Day2: Brahmcharini On Dwitiya, Goddess Brahmcharini, another incarnation of Parvati, is worshiped. In this form, Parvati became Sati, her unmarried self. Brahmcharini is worshiped for emancipation or moksha and endowment of peace and prosperity. Depicted as walking bare feet and holding a japamala and kamandalu in her hands, she symbolizes bliss and calm. The color of the day is Yellow which depicts calmness-wisdom-energy.

Day 3: Chandraghanta Tritiya commemorates the worship of Chandraghanta – the name derived from the fact that after marrying Shiva, Parvati adorned her forehead with half-chandra(lit. moon). She is the embodiment of beauty and is also symbolic of bravery, and hence, the color of the day is grey.

Day 4: Kushmunda Goddess Kushmanda is worshiped on Chaturthi. Believed to be the creative power of universe, Kushmunda is associated to the endowment of vegetation on earth and hence, the color of the day is Green. She is depicted as having eight arms and sits on a Tiger .

Day 5: Skandmata Skandamata, the goddess worshiped on Panchami, is the mother of Skand(or Kartikeya). The color White is symbolic of the transforming strength of a mother when her child is confronted with danger. She is depicted riding a ferocious lion, having four arms, and holding her baby.

Day 6: Katyayani Born to a sage, Katya, she is an incarnation of Durga and is shown to exhibit courage which is symbolized by the color Orange. Known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Goddess Parvati. In this avatar, Katyayani rides a lion and has four hands.

Day 7: Kalratri Considered the most ferocious form of Goddess Durga, Kalaratri is revered on Saptmi. It is believed that Parvati removed her fair skin to kill the demons Sumbh and Nisumbh. The color of the day is white. Her skin turns black.

Day 8: Mahagauri Mahagauri symbolizes intelligence and peace. The color associated to this day is Pink which depicts optimism.

Day 9: Sidhidatri On the last day of the festival also known as Navami, people pray to Siddhidaatri(Ardanareeswara). Sitting on a lotus, she is believed to possess and bestows all type of Siddhis. Here she has four hands. Also known as Saraswati Devi.
