{"id":874,"date":"2023-07-06T04:38:33","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T04:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blog.birlaschoolkalyan.com\/?p=874"},"modified":"2023-07-06T04:38:33","modified_gmt":"2023-07-06T04:38:33","slug":"never-stop-questioning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.blog.birlaschoolkalyan.com\/index.php\/2023\/07\/06\/never-stop-questioning\/","title":{"rendered":"Never stop questioning&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">I always believe\u00a0that\u00a0the best places for learning to happen are\u00a0vibrant\u00a0classrooms that\u00a0provide\u00a0opportunities for the students to discuss, put their points\u00a0across,\u00a0experiment, commit mistakes and laugh\u00a0at\u00a0and learn from their\u00a0mistakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Yesterday,\u00a0in\u00a0one of such classrooms we were discussing the concept of photosynthesis. With reference to one of the interesting\u00a0activities, a student raised his hand timidly.\u00a0Maybe\u00a0he\u00a0himself\u00a0was not sure about his question. After getting an encouraging expression from my end he hesitantly asked &#8230;If the leaf is detached from the plant, it dies, then\u00a0how come\u00a0it\u00a0can\u00a0transport\u00a0materials across different cells?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">That was a valid and intelligent question. I explained the\u00a0existence of life in the cells\u00a0even after detachment from the plant or death of the organism\u00a0to which those cells\u00a0belong\u00a0to.\u00a0To clarify further I discussed the concept of\u00a0organs being alive for some time after the death of the individual and their availability for\u00a0transplant.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know when my\u00a0dextral brain dominated the sinistral and I asked\u00a0the students\u00a0about whether\u00a0they knew\u00a0about\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Gora\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">and\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Badal\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">mentioned\u00a0in\u00a0the famous poem\u00a0\u2018Padmavat\u2019\u00a0;\u00a0who fought even after getting beheaded\u00a0in the war between\u00a0RanaRatansingh,\u00a0the\u00a0ruler of Mewar and Khilji.\u00a0OfCourse,\u00a0I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0 expect grade 10th\u00a0students to read\u00a0the epic poem \u2018Padmavat\u2019\u00a0out of interest, but\u00a0I believed that\u00a0many\u00a0of them have\u00a0seen the movie based on the same\u00a0and they could relate the\u00a0functioning\u00a0of the torso\u00a0without the head placed on it. For some of them it was difficult to imagine a headless body\u00a0moving swords\u00a0and killing the opponents in the battlefield.\u00a0But yes, it did happen and exemplifies\u00a0bravery, patriotism and\u00a0OfCourse\u00a0functioning of parts of\u00a0our\u00a0body for some time even after death.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">So many\u00a0times,\u00a0we teachers Unknowingly\u00a0or knowingly\u00a0cross the porous and permeable boundaries of the subjects just to clarify a point.\u00a0And\u00a0most\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0times\u00a0students\u00a0narrate such moments in alumni meets.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">We\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0plan\u00a0all the things\u00a0all the time, it just happens&#8230;..\u00a0But everything amazing starts with a question.
